The south side of the Alps is made for a refreshing summer: turquoise blue lakes for swimming, paths for hiking and cycling, city and cultural life to enjoy. In Carinthia, people are as active or decelerated as they are at the moment.

The glittering Carinthian bathing lakes nestle in the valleys of the southern Alpine arc. After a hike, boat trip, bike or pleasure tour, every afternoon ends in the same way: with a jump into a refreshing lake with drinking water quality.

Lake Wörthersee, the largest lake in Carinthia and the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, stretches 16 kilometres from the exclusive seaside resort of Velden in the west to the state capital Klagenfurt in the east. The lakeshore is adorned with magnificent villas from the turn of the century.

Two islands with white sandbanks protrude from the turquoise blue lake: Capuchin Island and Flower Island. The former can be reached with a rental boat. A wooden bridge leads to the flower island.

The far-reaching view from the Pyramidenkogel, an impressive sculpture made of wood, is something to be proud of. The breathtaking 360 degree panorama over Lake Wörthersee with a view of the Gurktal Alps and Karawanken is worth a visit.
